Hi, I'm Dhruv 👋

I'm a software engineer with 10+ years building large-scale distributed systems at Amazon, Google, and Uber. I now lead the engineering effort behind Emergent's enterprise platform, working on the backend of AI-agent systems: agent runtimes, orchestration, and multi-tenant, VPC-isolated deployments.

I write here about the unglamorous infrastructure reality of building AI agents, grounded in distributed-systems fundamentals.

    Emergent
    Enterprise Platform (B2B)
    • Lead the engineering effort to build Emergent’s enterprise (B2B) offering on top of a consumer product, turning sales-committed features into a shippable platform.
    • Built the enterprise foundation: role-based access control (RBAC), SSO, and an org/tenant admin panel.
    • Architected the VPC deployment model, splitting the stack into a control plane and a customer-hosted data plane so enterprise data and agent workloads run inside the customer’s own infrastructure.

    Uber
    Order Platform
    • Architected and launched a concurrent Cadence-based pipeline for TB-scale historical order data, cutting runtime from 55+ minutes to 12-16.
    • Identified an N+1 fan-out pattern baked into a live order-processing workflow (one activity per order, 600+ sequential DB calls) and replaced it with a single-pass design, taking execution reliability to 100%.
    • Designed a benchmarking framework (controlled parallelism, checkpointing, metrics-driven tuning) to choose production concurrency strategies.
